Since 2022, in response to a series of open calls, a growing group of Student Curators from across all five years have been working with the UCD Building Change team to:

  • Include a student perspective within the UCD Building Change project;
  • Contribute ideas for actions and initiatives that students would like to see as part of Building Change;
  • Build communication and engagement with the project across the UCD Architecture student community;
  • Document events associated with the Building Change Project – lectures, workshops, seminars etc.

Our goal is to offer new opportunities through educational actions and document the ongoing developments within UCD’s architectural programme. Through lectures, workshops, and events we aim to help shape the future of architecture education, one idea and event at a time.

Initiatives so far have included the design and production of the Social Construct podcast, the curation of the Future Lives of Building 71 exhibition, communication about Building Change at UCD through a dedicated Instagram channel and assistance with lectures and events. Plans are in train to create a Materials Library, curate exhibitions along with peers in other schools of architecture, and to organize lectures, events and workshops of interest to students.

We believe in the transformative and collective empowerment of students, creating opportunities that amplify the shared voice of UCD’S future architects. Through this connection between Building Change and the student body, we aim to redefine the boundaries of architectural education, dedicated to designing a resilient future, through open dialogue and collaboration.
