Year 3 ATU Architecture students and studio staff ventured to Donegal as part of year-long design pilot studio project.
The project has identified 5 key sites along the harbour waterfront and developed design proposals for each which include mixed use housing, adaptive reuse of existing disused structures, cultural and community facilities that will realise the potential of the waterfront in the town and harbour.
As part of the fieldtrip, students have reviewed the town in a holistic manner and their design proposals have been informed by:
  • Detailed analysis of the sites and wider town,
  • Drone photogrammetry scanning,
  • Measure and photographic surveys,
  • Climate analysis,
  • Materials studies,
  • Urban analysis, and
  • Various mapping analysis studies.
