Lecture 5 of the M.Arch Team’s Seminar Series: Oppositions X Intersections in Architecture

The aim of this gathering will be to discuss and reflect upon inter- or post- disciplinary approaches for thinking with oceans. For attendees, you are invited to read a short opinion article “The Metaphor of Ocean ‘Health” is Problematic; ‘The Ocean We Want’ is a Better Term’ as well as the linked news article on Nemo’s Garden.

Dr Jesse Peterson is a lecturer with the Radical Humanities Laboratory and School of the Human Environment (Department of Geography) at University College Cork in Ireland. His research interests include more-than-human relations, environmental change, and science and technology, with a specific focus on biodiversity loss and oceanic degradation. He is currently editing a special issue on sea farming ethics and has published an algal perspectives, toxins, and narrative; ocean ‘health’ and ‘dead’ seas, and the maritime ritual of ‘crossing the line’.
