In this module, SETU students discovered and documented materials and construction methods, in response to climate change adapted design and a more careful use of building resources and as discussed in weekly seminars. This would include case studies introduced in class and a critical review of material used in their previous studio project.

The students worked with the MESH Embodied Carbon Calculator Tool, to verify and minimise the carbon footprint of their design proposals. Finally, they investigated projects presented as part of the “Solar Decathlon Europe 21-22” competition held in Wuppertal, Germany. The students collated and discussed all their discoveries and findings in an individually prepared “Logbook”. This Logbook would read as a reflective journal of the module experience.

Two examples of these logbooks are included here.
